April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during several Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian who will be joining her in Tokyo. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be her final chance to do so. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly in reach. If we do our best or even if we play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. "I'm trying to also try to have a bit of luck." Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball along with basketball, track and running. She was definitely the best in the game of indoor volleyball. When she played in her high school volleyball career in her university profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. For her efforts, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before the year. It's true that she's had numerous big wins and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. The pair teamed with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated in high school. This was an impressive performance for Ross during her time at the university. When she was a freshman in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans also reached the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, however, she was successful in achieving the All-American award. In her last two years in the Trojans program, she guided them to a national title each year. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001 when Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie at the beach and in daily life, inspires her.
